Escape

Family is a great thing to have,

to have a home to return to

after a long day,

to have peace and quiet

and recharge for the next day.

Thoughts like these are what get me into trouble,

like fantasies bleeding into reality,

the cold truth starts to show through.

A once warm house

has grown cold with the winter.

Yelling for the littlest of things,

scolding without a cause,

raising voices just to get someone to listen,

ignoring the things that others say

and not hearing my cry for help.

Parents are supposed to be there for their kids,

they are supposed to understand them,

listen to them,

love them,

and set them on the right path,

yet,

how can you listen to me

while you yell like that?

How can you understand me

if I never get the chance to talk?

How can you hear me call for help

if all you do is argue?

I need a way out,

I need someone to listen to what I have to say,

I need to be loved,

I need to be heard,

I need to...

escape…
